A press release heralding Gov. Ronnie Musgrove's proclamation honoring the Meridian Community College baseball team arrived the other day. It saluted the team's 39-19 record and number five ranking among community colleges in the U.S.
It was fitting tribute to a terrific season.
But just to show how little things can go awry in a hectic political campaign when time is short and proclamations are plentiful, the last line of the press release referred to the MCC team as the "Indians."
Indians? No, governor, MCC is still the "Eagles." But, hey, thanks for the recognition anyway.
