Burton selected to PEER panel

JACKSON State Sen. Terry C. Burton, R-Newton, has been named by Lt. Gov. Amy Tuck to serve on the joint Legislative Performance Evaluation and Expenditure Review Committee (PEER) of the Legislature.
PEER is a 10-member committee commonly referred to as the watchdog committee of the Legislature, charged with investigating or reviewing the work of state agencies or any public entity that receives state funding.
PEER may examine agency documents and records, interview personnel and examine witnesses, using subpoena powers, if necessary.
The committee publishes results of its investigations and reviews in reports that are issued to the Legislature and the public.
