Aldersgate introduces Eden Alternative
to Meridian

Aldersgate Retirement Community is inviting the public to attend a celebration on Friday to mark its designation as an Eden Registered Community.
The celebration will be from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at Aldersgate, 6600 Poplar Springs Drive. The retirement home is a ministry of United Methodist Senior Services of Mississippi.
Becoming an Eden Registered Community means that Aldersgate will implement certain principles and practices that increase the participation of residents. Known as the Eden Alternative, the philosophy for long-term elder care was developed by a physician in 1991.
Scheduled activities on Friday include a tree planting ceremony; presentation of the Eden Accreditation Award; arts and crafts; flower seed planting; and a children's corner with a storyteller scheduled to perform.
