A loaded tournament schedule at Northwood Country Club gets underway Saturday morning with the Northwood Spring Four-Ball Tournament.
Northwood Country Club pro Jimmy Gamblin said Thursday that the tournament has attracted a good field despite the fact that the Bancorp-Mississippi Golf Association's State Four-Ball is being held the same weekend down in Hattiesburg.
Gamblin said at least 10 teams from Meridian will be playing in the Bancorp State Four-Ball Tournament in Hattiesbury.
One of Meridian's top golfers will not be in the field. Judge Little and his partner Dan Angerio will be playing in the State 4-Ball. Joining them will be Scott Morgan and John Lane among others.
Former Lamar School golf coach Doyle Bryan will also play in Hattiesburg. Bryan and his partner finished as the state runners-up last year.
Golfers at the Meridian Tournament will be well-treated. Gamblin said tee prizes will be offered to each golfer.
Following the Spring Four-Ball, Northwood will host the MPSA Overall State Tournament on May 6. On May 19, the Southern Mississippi Alumni Chapter will holds its annual Jeff Bower Tournament. The spring season caps off with the Ed Lewis Memorial Tournament set for Memorial Day Weekend.
