A lieutenant with the Meridian Police Department has been indicted on charges of statutory rape by the Lauderdale County grand jury.
Bobby Davis, 43, of 6109 32nd St., was put on administrative leave when the complaint was first filed with Meridian police about two months ago, according to Meridian Police Chief Benny DuBose.
DuBose said his department has no knowledge of the details of the case since it has been handled independently. He said Davis has been a police officer in Meridian for more than 10 years.
Additional details of the case were not available on Thursday.
