Sheriff's deputies search for burglary suspect

A Bailey woman was taken to a Meridian hospital Thursday after she was knocked down by a would-be burglar as he was fleeing her house.
Maj. Ward Calhoun, of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Deaprtment, said the woman suffered minor injuries. Calhoun was not specific about the injuries.
Calhoun said deputies are looking for a black male who in his early to mid-20s, stands about 6 feet tall and is of an average build.
Calhoun said the woman was returning to her residence along Highway 493 at about 4:45 p.m. when she encountered a man who was in her house.
Calhoun said it is not known whether the suspect is driving a car or is on foot. Further details remained under investigation Thursday night.
