Mitts, Mosley throw no-hitters

A pair of area pitchers tossed near flawless baseball games in high school action Friday night.
Meridian High School's Ken Mitts picked up a no-hit victory over Natchez, and Clarkdale's Justin Mosley threw a no-hitter of his own against Scott Central.
Mitts and Meridian defeated Natchez 11-1 in a five-inning, run-rule contest, and Mosley led Clarkdale to a 15-0 five-inning, run-rule win against Scott Central.

Meridian (18-3, 5-0) used a late game burst of 10 hits to pick up its win over Natchez.
Kimone McDade led Meridian's effort at the plate with a 3-for-3 performance. McDade smacked a home run and picked up three RBIs in the win.
Kedric Martin went 2-for-3 for Meridian, with a double, and Bobby Stone went 2-for-4 in the Wildcats win.
Meridian continues its season against Demopolis at 11 a.m. today on the road.
Clarkdale 15
Scott Central 0
Clarkdale (9-11) had four players notched multiple hits in its win over Scott Central.
Kevin McKissack recorded three hits, with two doubles and two RBIs, for Clarkdale.
Brandon Mabry, Cliston James and Dusty Webb each notched two hits for Clarkdale. Webb drove in three runs, and James tallied two RBIs in the win.
Brent Mabry added to the lopsided Clarkdale win with a double and an RBI.
Clarkdale continues its season against Southeast today at home.
Parklane 4
Lamar 1
Lane Moore pitched a complete game and held off the Raiders 4-1 in the first game of a district doubleheader.
The Pioneers scored a run in each of the first three innings and added a run in the bottom of the fifth to hold off the visiting Raiders. Moore also had a double to lead Parklane at the plate.
Lamar's only run came in the fourth inning.

Parklane completed the sweep over Lamar with an 18-3 victory on Friday night.
Jeremy Wallace pitched a complete game and gave up only three hits to beat the Raiders. Reg Ott scored three runs for Parklane and Brett Hicks was 3-for-3 with a double and four runs.
J.R. Farnham and Rusty Rayborn each had a double for the Pioneers and Moore had a home run.
Randy Boyd Thompson led Lamar with a double. Lamar falls to 5-10 for the season and 1-8 in district play.
The Raiders will travel to Natchez to take on Adams County Christian in district play and then will host Adams on Friday in a district doubleheader.
