Services for Pearlie Manuel will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Manuel, 91, of Meridian, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Lee; an adopted son, Jonas Crenshaw; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services for James D. Adams will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Thad Moore officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Mr. Adams, 30, of Jackson, died Monday, March 31, 2003, in Harrison County. He followed in his late father's footsteps and was becoming a successful car salesman. His winning smile and great personality played a part in his success and his family knows that he walks with angels in the presence of God today. He will be missed by all. He was a 1991 graduate of Meridian High School and a member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents, Bonnie and Bob Woods of Meridian; brothers, Jason Adams of Meridian, Rodney Adams of Nashville, Roland Adams of New Orleans and John Woods of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sisters, Ann Piarrot of Nashville, Grace Channell, Jane Hedrick and Amy McBride, all of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kermit Adams; his grandparents, Jay and Hettie Harris, Goldie and Herbert Woods, and Charles and Alice Adams; and a niece, Jessica Woods.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Pallbearers will be his brothers and nephews.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
LAUREL Services for Avonne Walsh "Von" Norman will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Memory Chapel Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ronny Joe Webb and Ralph Graves officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Norman, 78, of Laurel, died Monday, March 31, 2003, in her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Laurel and she served as past librarian. She was a member of the Round Table Book Club and a board member of Y.W.C.O.
Survivors include her husband, Donald R. "Don" Norman; daughters, Ann Wilson and her husband, Bob, of Wynne, Ark., and Donna McCoy and her husband, Scott, of Louisville, Ky.; five grandchildren, Bill and Leigh Wilson Wolf, Craig Wilson, Bryan McCoy, Erin McCoy and Adam McCoy; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Wolf and Will Wolf; and a sister, Annielie Crawley and her husband, Ted, of Madison.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Laurel Foundation or a favorite charity.
Pallbearers will be E.D. Hurst, Johnny Hassell, Ed Hitt, Bob Rayburn, Ted Crawley Jr. and Cary Crawley.
Visitation will be Thursday 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Services for Chester Lofton Rhodes will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Everett Bonner and Allan Randall officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. Rhodes, 93, of Meridian, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, in his home. He was retired from the United States Postal Service and a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Charles E. Rhodes and his wife, Inez, of Meridian; a daughter, Doris Sosebee of Meridian; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; special friends, Nora Coleman Todd and Janie Hagwood; and sitters, Bruce and Melissa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Rhodes; and a son, Jerry Rhodes.
Pallbearers will be Randy Rhodes, Stanley Rhodes, Dewayne Sosebee, Carl Sosebee, Gregg Baum and Bruce Saterfiel.
Visitation will be Wednesday 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
