The president of the Mississippi Economic Council said he believes Mississippi has a great opportunity to move forward.
Wilson even quoted Republican U.S. Sen. Trent Lott in comparing Mississippi to an unfinished symphony.
Wilson was in Meridian last week to meet with business leaders and public officials.
The city was the first stop for the MEC's "Mississippi Express," a series of meetings statewide that will cover such issues as education and civil justice reform.
Wilson is completing his fifth year as MEC president. Before joining the MEC, he served as executive vice president for Florida's Chamber of Commerce.
Wilson, 49, also spent 10 years working for the Delaware Chamber of Commerce reaching the No. 2 position. He also has worked as a newspaper reporter and as a newspaper editor.
He is married and has three children.
