Man charged with attempted assault

A Meridian man remained in the Lauderdale County jail on $200,000 bond Saturday night after being charged with trying to assault a pair of East Mississippi Drug Task Force agents in their vehicle.
Christopher D. Katzes, 32, 4056 34th Ave., was charged with two counts of attempted aggravated assault in the incident that happened Friday night.
Maj. Ward Calhoun of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department said the arrest came after a chase through Meridian.
Calhoun said the drug task force agents were investigating the area of Meadowbrook Apartments, 4313 Fifth St., when they encountered Katzes. Calhoun said the case remains under investigation.
A court date for Katzes is set for July 28.
