Services for Julian Dickie Hammond Sr. will be held today at 10 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Tom Sikes officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. Hammond, 92, of Alexandria, La., formerly of Meridian, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, in Alexandria, where he had lived the past 33 years. He operated the Hammond Photo Service after the death of his father, John A. Hammond, for several years until eventually selling the business.
Mr. Hammond was a retired manufacturer's representative for several companies and was quarterback for the Meridian High School Wildcats football team in 1928-1930. He was elected captain of the 1930 team and later graduated at MHS.
Mr. Hammond was a member of the Meridian "Nite" Lions Club, past president of Meridian Quarterback and "M" Clubs, member of Meridian Chamber of Commerce, and was active in several civic projects. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, of which he was a deacon and president of "Young Couples" Sunday School class.
Mr. Hammond also was a 32nd degree mason and shriner, and was an avid golfer and veteran of World War II. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout at age 14, making him one of the youngest to ever receive this honor in scouting.
UNION Services for Bobby "Bud" Munn will be held today at 11 a.m. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Edgar Killen and James Warren officiating. Burial will be in Greenland Church Cemetery.
Mr. Munn, 68, of Little Rock, died Thursday, March 20, 2003, in his home.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Fay Munn of Little Rock; daughters, Nelda Robertson of Greenwood, Mary Ellis and her husband, Tommy, of Little Rock, and Lisa Redmond and her fiancee, Eric Shepherd, of Little Rock; sons, Ricky Munn and his wife, Diane, of Little Rock, Bobby Munn and his wife, June, Robert Munn and his wife, Deedra, and Danny Munn, all of Union; sisters, Imagene Moss of Indiana, Allie Mae Munn of Morton and Judy Latham of Morton; 20 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Munn and a sister, Ava Nell Jackson.
Pallbearers will be Scottie Townsend, Eric Shepherd, Brad Murphy, D.J. Daniels, Tim Barnett, Stevie Goings, Ricky Arinder and Jeff Lathem.
Services for Horace William Wells will be held today at 11:30 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Henson officiating. Burial will be in Tri-City Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Wells, 72, of Meridian, died Friday, March 21, 2003, at Queen City Nursing Center.
Survivors include two sisters, Norma Wells Burns of Florence, Ala.; and Mary Wells Tosh and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Wells.
A committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tri-City Memorial Gardens in Florence, Ala.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
