A 10-year-old boy was at University Medical Center in Jackson today after being hit by a car in front of the Center Hill field on Gum Log Road.
Chief Deputy Mike Mitchell of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department said the boy initially was taken to Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center after he was hit around 4:30 p.m.
Mitchell said the boy, whose name was unavailable, was later taken to UMC. Mitchell said he was listed today in stable condition.
The chief deputy said the boy was crossing the road to the ball field when he stepped in front of an east-bound car. Mitchell said he does not anticipate any charges will be filed against the driver of the car.
