ECCC set to host prep hoops tourney

Some of the area's top high school basketball talent will be on display
this week when the annual Central Mississippi Classic tips off at East Central Community College in Decatur on Tuesday.
Girls and boys teams from Sebastopol, Morton, West Lauderdale, Neshoba Central, Lake, Enterprise, Newton County, Scott Central and Nanih Waiya are scheduled to compete in the tournament.
In first-round girls' action on Tuesday, Sebastopol and Morton meet at 4 p.m. in the Brackeen-Wood gym, and Enterprise and Newton County battle at the same time at the South Campus gym. Scott Central and Nanih Waiya tangle at 7 p.m. in Brackeen-Wood.
Girls' matchups for Wednesday include Neshoba Central and Lake at 4 p.m. in the South Campus gym, with Newton taking on the Scott Central-Nanih Waiya winner at the same time in Brackeen-Wood. West Lauderdale will challenge the Sebastopol-Morton victor at 7 p.m. in Brackeen-Wood, and Northeast Lauderdale will meet the Enterprise-Newton County winner at 7 p.m. in the South Campus gym.
Semifinals are scheduled at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday in Brackeen-Wood. The championship game is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, also in Brackeen-Wood.
A consolation bracket is also scheduled, with the title game set at 1 p.m.
Saturday in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building.
In the boys' competition, action gets underway at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, with Lake and Enterprise doing battle in the Brackeen-Wood gym.
Sebastopol and Newton meet at the same time in the South Campus gym. The final contest of the day has Scott Central and Nanih Waiya battling at 8:30 p.m. in Brackeen-Wood.
Boys' games scheduled Wednesday include Newton County and Neshoba Central at 5:30 p.m. in the South Campus gym, with Northeast Lauderdale taking on the Lake-Enterprise winner at the same time in Brackeen-Wood.
Morton will challenge the Sebastopol-Newton winner at 8:30 p.m. in the South Campus gym, and the Scott Central-Nanih Waiya winner meets West Lauderdale at the same time in the South Campus gym.
Semifinal action is scheduled at 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Friday in Brackeen-Wood. Finals are set for 8:30 p.m., also in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building.
