Concert to benefit Jimmie Rodgers fund

As in past years, radio personalities Art Matthews and Al Brown will host a Thanksgiving weekend concert to raise money for a local charity.
This year, the concert will benefit the Jimmie Rodgers Memorial Fund. It's set for Saturday at the Singing Brakeman Park, next to Union Station, on Front Street in downtown Meridian.
Headlining the concert will be The Taylor Grocery Band from Oxford. The band's sound is grounded in classic Southern acoustic music from Memphis jug band to bluegrass. Also performing will be the bands Fritz Pritz and Rubber Soul.
Matthews and Brown, better known as the "Most Hair on the Air," recently announced their acquisition of WZKR 103.3 with long-time radio veteran Ken Rainey.
The team also announced plans for "Christmas with a Cop" where underprivileged children go shopping with a Meridian police officer.
The event is sponsored by the Meridian Police Department's Benevolent Association and the Fraternal Order of Police. A fund-raiser to support this year's program will take place Dec. 11-14 at Lowe's in Meridian.
Matthews and Brown have also announced plans for another concert Dec. 6 at the Temple Theatre.
