Suzanna Capri Posey and Jason Lamar Brooks were married Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at First Baptist Church in Philadelphia with the Rev. Dr. Dan Howard officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Posey of Philadelphia, and Deborah Brooks Ayers of Grenada.
Grandparents of the bride are Sadie Posey and the late Cecil Posey, and the late Mr. and Mrs. B.L. Tidwell, all of Philadelphia.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Ferguson of Grenada.
Nuptial music by Cindi Dugan, pianist; Ronnie White, organist; and Jimmy Hardy, violinist. Vocalists included the bridegroom, who wrote and performed a song for the bride; Stacie Stringer of Bloomington, Minn., and Russell Schulte of Greenville, S.C.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She wore a formal strapless A-line gown of royal white satin. The fitted bodice featured re-embroidered Alencon lace embellished with seed pearls and crystal beading. Delicate tucks accented the top of the bodice and hemline. The back was adorned with covered buttons. She wore a three tiered veil of illusion that was trimmed in sea pearls and fell from a headpiece of pearls and crystals.
She carried a bouquet of polo, bridal pink and pink buardia roses, which was accented with the pearl and crystal lace taken from her mother's wedding dress.
Serving as maid of honor was Elizabeth Reid of Jackson. Bridesmaids were Cynthia Posey and Jil Montgomery, sisters of the bride, Sarah Benson and Janet Yates of Philadelphia, Missey Carter and Lindsey Leach of Jackson, Katie Pinkerton of Ocean Springs, Rachel Schulte of Greenville, S.C., Mandy Shanks of Germantown, Tenn., and Keyla Wadlington of Brandon.
Honorary bridesmaids were Kendall Faust, Shan Garrett, Mandee Johnson, Kristin Kilpatrick, Kara Loper, Elizabeth McCarty, Wendy Peebles, Micki Posey and Leigh Ward. Flower girl was Skyler Montgomery, niece of the bride.
Justin Ferguson served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Chad Barnette and Jerald Ferguson of Southaven, Jeffrey Ferguson, Jeremy Ferguson and Stan Ferguson of Grenada, Chad Hunsucker of New Orleans, David Lewis of Olive Branch, Donnie Montgomery of Philadelphia, Ty Posey of Hattiesburg and Hugh Taylor II of Kansas City, Mo.
William Powell, cousin of the bridegroom, served as ring bearer. Ushers were Joseph Ferguson of Southaven, Todd Sheppard and Chet Winstead. both of Philadelphia.
Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club. Music was provided by the KARDS and Miriam Webb.
Servers were Melissa Estes, Julie Hoeniges, Allison Shannon, Abby Loper, Christy Walker and Larissa Conoway.
Serving as registrars were Betsy Black, Meredith Dickerson, Leslie Holland and Tracie Manucy.
Program attendant was Christy Conn of Philadelphia. Belles handing out rose petals were Rachel Moore, Rebecca Moore and Reagon Jackson of Philadelphia. Serving at the wishes bowl was Amber Shannon of Jackson.
The morning of the wedding, a bridesmaid's luncheon was held at the home of Jim and Judy Smith and hosted by Judy Smith, Linda Murray and Martha Reid.
On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom's mother entertained the wedding party and guests with a rehearsal dinner at First Baptist Church in Philadelphia.
After a Caribbean cruise, the couple resides in New Orleans, where they are both students at New Orleans Baptist Theological I Seminary.
