County holds three
in connection with escape

Three men remained in Lauderdale County jail today on suspicion of aiding in the Tuesday escape of Jasper County jail inmate Kelly Paul Brown Jr.
Maj. Ward Calhoun with the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday that the men could be charged today. He said one of the three could face desertion charges from the U.S. Navy.
Brown, 20, was captured in southeast Lauderdale County on Wednesday and taken to the state prison in Rankin County.
Brown, a state trusty, drove a Jasper County truck away from a road barn at Heidelberg. The truck was found wrecked on a road near Highway 19 South.
