Meridian Police Chief Benny DuBose said his officers are still looking for a 21-year-old man who escaped from the police station.
Marcus J. Rew was assigned to pick up trash along roadsides after being arrested Sept. 10 for contempt of court. During the Tuesday lunch hour, he removed the orange jump suit he was wearing and left.
Rew had been in the Lauderdale County Detention Facility because he had failed to pay a fine related to a charge of possession of marijuana.
Rew is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 145 pounds.
