The 37th Annual YABA State Tournament will conclude this weekend. The first two weekends have yielded some good bowling and some good scores from youth bowlers across the state. More of the same is expected this weekend as the tournament concludes. You will find a recap of this past weekend's action elsewhere in the sports section.
Next up on the scene is the first Bowling Camp scheduled from July 22-26 at Dixie Bowl.
Open to both youth and adult bowlers, the camp will run from 3 p.m.- 5 p.m. each day. Participants will receive instruction in the basics of bowling from some of this area's top bowlers and will be eligible for special prize drawings Friday, July 26. Cost is $45 per person to attend. To sign up, you may visit the counter at Dixie Bowl or call 483-2283. You may also contact Betty Dorough at 482-2220.
Don't forget that Stan's Classic Tournaments will be hosting a Handicap Doubles Tournaments each weekend during August and concluding Labor Day. Multiple participation is allowed, meaning that you may bowl with up to three partners each time you bowl.
High Game Pots and Brackets will be optional. The cost to enter is $60 per team ($30 per bowler) and $25 per bowler for additional partners in the same shift. First Place is guaranteed to pay $3,000. The handicap will be 90% of 210 for women and 80% of 210 for men. Shift times will be 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. each Saturday and 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. each Sunday and on Labor Day. Remember, you must show your ABC/WIBC card at time of first entry.
