Services for James E. Reynolds will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with the Revs. Jimmy Garrard, Danny Baliant and Dr. Clarence Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Reynolds, 77, of the Whynot community, died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a retired building contractor and member of Bethany Baptist Church in Whynot.
Mr. Reynolds helped light the first baseball field in Whynot and managed ball teams for years. He served on the board that purchased the community development property and built two churches for Bethany Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School classes and R.A.'s and also worked with the youth of the church for many years.
Mr. Reynolds also served as chairman of the deacons and served as choir director and sang in the church choir for many years. He served on the church finance and building committees and built many homes in the Whynot community.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Reynolds of Whynot; a son, Robert Reynolds and his wife, Susan, of Little Rock, Ark.; two grandchildren, Hope Reynolds and Hall Reynolds of Little Rock; a special son, Bennie Ford of Whynot; a special niece, Hilda Faye Davis, a sister, Martharee Scruggs and two brothers, J.W. Reynolds and Ray Reynolds, all of Whynot.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennie Reynolds, two sisters, Clarice Maxwell and Ethel Flowers, and two brothers, Clyde Reynolds and Charles Reynolds.
The family requests memorials be made to the building fund or cemetery committee at Bethany Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Rick Davis, William Davis, Ricky Roy Shirley, Al Taylor, Tommy Joe Butler, Kevin McRae, Donovan Scruggs and Larry Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Glenn Cochran, deacons, Sunday School class at Bethany Baptist Church and Dominoes Players Club.
Visitation will be today from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
CARL MERVYN SAWYER
PONCHATOULA, La. Services for Carl Mervyn Sawyer will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Geisler Funeral Home Chapel of Ponchatoula with the Rev. Robert Deich officiating. Burial will be in Carter Cemetery in Springfield.
Mr. Sawyer, 74, of Ponchatoula, died Friday, May 31, 2002, at his home. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Malcom Sawyer of Ponchatoula; three daughters, Carla Sawyer Clark of Mobile, Ala.; Linda Sawyer Poole of Longwood, Fla.; and Wanda Sawyer Heroman of Ponchatoula; a sister, Martha Sutton of Macon, Ga.; a brother, Claude Sawyer of Lafayette; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ike and Ruby Lee Sawyer, and a brother, Eugene Sawyer.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
GEORGE HOSEY HALL
Self-employed precision grinder
Graveside services for George Hosey Hall will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Crowe officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hall, 61, of Savoy, died Friday, May 31, 2002, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was a true servant of Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl L. Hall of the Savoy Community; seven daughters, Monique DeShell Hall of Decatur, Ill.; Candy Sherrel Hall of Savoy; Rezine Leann Dees and her husband, Evan, of Livingston, Ala.; Saria Hall and Martha Jones and her husband, Sampson Royal, all of Meridian; and Rebekah Hall and Mary Ann Hall, both of Savoy; three sons, Vincent LaMont Hall of Savoy; Lewis Deon Hall and his wife, Cornilia Elaine, of Lauderdale County; and Thessalonian DeWayne Hall of Meridian; two grandchildren, Michael Christopher Hall and Samuel Royal Jones Jr.; a sister, Elvera Harper and her husband, Johnny, of St. Louis, Mo.; nieces and nephews, Sonya L. Patterson and her husband, Glen; J. Adrian Harper; Teah M. Harper; Robin L. Cole and her husband, Terry M.; Wanda Meriweather; Tony Meriweather; Barbara Davis; Lee Lee Meriweather; Gary Meriweather; Carmie Meriweather; and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Buckley, his father, Hosey Hall, and his brother, Lee Meriweather.
Visitation will be today from 9 a.m. -1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements were incomplete at Berry &Gardner Funeral Home for Mahogany Rush, 5, of Meridian, who died Friday, May 31, 2002, at University Medical Center in Jackson.
