RUBY INEZ HURST CRAIG
Retired seamstress and homemaker
NEWTON Services for Ruby Inez Hurst Craig will be held today at 10 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel in Newton with the Rev. Jackie Strebeck officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Cemetery.
Mrs. Craig, 77, of Hickory, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Heartfelt Hospice. She was a member of Hickory Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, James N. Craig of Hickory; a daughter, June Zachary of Pensacola, Fla.; two sons, Jimmy Craig and his wife, Patty, of Hickory; and Nathaniel Craig and his wife, Donna, of Cantonment, Fla.; three sisters, Ida Mae Scoggins of Hickory; Katherine Wilson of Newton; and Grace Evelyn Bounds of Clinton; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Lela Ingram Hurst, a brother, Morris Hurst and a daughter, Helen Faye Craig.
Pallbearers will be Steve Tatum, Patrick Craig, Paul Evans, Jackie Gentry, Timmy Gentry and Hansel Willis. Honorary pallbearers will be David Wilson and Herbert Lee Harris.
JEWEL MAE PRICE
Homemaker
UNION Services for Jewel Mae Price will be held today at 2 p.m. at Bell Sumiton Chapel in Alabama. Burial will be in Empire Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Price, 80, of Little Rock, formerly of Sumiton, Ala., died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, in her home.
Survivors include three daughters, Melba Barnett and her husband, Joe, of Little Rock, Shirley Grace and her husband, Ronnie, of Jasper, Ala., and Geraldine Talbert of Walker, Ala.; two sons, Ralph Price and Richard Price, both of Walker; and a sister, Odell Ray of Warrior, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neuman Doc Price.
WILLIAM BENARD SMITH
Retired sawmill worker
QUITMAN Graveside services for William Benard Smith will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Quitman with the Rev. Dale Eakes officiating. Wright's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, 82, of Quitman, died Friday, May 17, 2002, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Nannie N. Smith, and his daughter, Nina B. Rascoe, both of Quitman; and a son, Benard B. Smith of Farmerville, La.; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be today after 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
GEORGE SCOTT
Truckdriver
Services for George Scott will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Richardson Funeral Home Chapel in Clinton, La., with the Rev. Myron Hairston officiating. Burial will be in Scott Family Cemetery in Clinton with Clarks Memorial Funeral Home of Meridian in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Scott, 69, of Meridian, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was a Roadway Express truckdriver.
Survivors include his wife, Katie Scott of Meridian; his mother, Della Ratcliff of New Orleans; three sons, Joseph and George L. Lewis of New Orleans; and Charles E. Scott of Meridian; two daughters, Helen Mosley of Evergreen, Ala.; and Elnora Lewis of New Orleans; a brother, Charles Jackson of Clinton, La.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Clarks Memorial Funeral Home.
LORA D. HARWORTH
Services for Lora D. Harworth will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Harworth, 74, of Meridian, died Friday, May 17, 2002, at Guardian Angel Hospice of Marion.
LORENA SHERROD
Retired educator
Services for Lorena Sherrod will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at First Union Baptist Church with the Rev. William Harper officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery with Berry &Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Sherrod, 92, of Meridian, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at her home.
Survivors include her foster daughter, Malissa Borders of Meridian; one nephew, one niece, one foster granddaughter, two foster great-grandchildren and four foster great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. and at the funeral home and Monday one hour prior to services at the church.
