Humane Society sets pet adoption for Saturday

The Lauderdale County Humane Society is preparing for its largest adoption day yet.
About 30 animals will be available for adoption Saturday at Center Court of the Bonita Lakes Mall.
Lee said the group has about a dozen baby kittens of all colors in need of a home. She said this is by far the most kittens the group has ever had at one time.
The number of dogs expected to be at the mall Saturday is 16-18. They will range from 6- to 7-week-old puppies to small adult dogs weighing about 30 pounds.
Lee said anyone who may be interested in an animal should stop by the mall Saturday. But, she said, people shouldn't make a rushed decision about adopting a pet.
Since September, the Humane Society has held monthly pet adoptions at the mall to help locate homes for the county's abused, neglected and discarded animals.
Even though county residents have a place to take unwanted animals, Lee said, the mall is still a good place for the animals to receive the exposure they need to find a good home.
Lee stresses that unwanted pets are not to be dropped off at the mall.
