Kemper County man dies in accident

A Kemper County man was killed Tuesday in a one-vehicle accident on Highway 39 North near the Lauderdale County-Kemper County line.
Sgt. Ronnie Carter, a spokesman with the Mississippi Highway Patrol, said Leon Hopson, 46, of Porterville, died when his 1972 GMC logging truck left Highway 39 and struck a tree.
The accident occurred at about 2:10 p.m., about1/2 mile north of Daleville.
Carter said officials have not determined why Hopson's truck left the highway. Carter said the accident remains under investigation.
