Union's success in its second-round Class 1A baseball playoff series with Natchez Cathedral will come down to one word, first-year Yellowjackets' coach Joey Ward said. That word is execution.'
Game 1 is set for Friday at 6 p.m. at Natchez with Game 2 Saturday at 2 p.m. at Union. A third game, if needed, would be at Natchez at 6 p.m. on Monday.
Union got in a quick 1-0 hole in its first-round series with Weir after losing the first game 10-8 before bouncing back to take 13-1 and 11-1 run-rule wins.
Jody Blount (7-3) then pitched the 19-12 Jackets to wins in the second and third games on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
Blount has eight doubles, four triples, and five home runs. Eric Graham has nine doubles and three homers. Wes Henry has four doubles and three homers. Zach Robinson has six doubles with Jordan Robinson having two homers.

Other top hitters are senior Bart Lane (5 2B, 2 3B), sophomore Wyler Murray (4 2B), sophomore Garrett Jones (4 2B, 2 3B), junior Rodney Daggett (3 2B), junior Daniel Wisner (3 2B), and sophomore Michael Blain (3 2B).
