Rohrlack: Positive community attitude will help lure economic development

The executive director of the state's chief economic development agency told local business leaders today that a positive community attitude is a key ingredient in attracting new jobs.
Bob Rohrlack Jr., head of the Mississippi Development Authority, spoke at the East Mississippi Business Development Corp. monthly Business Before Hours meeting at Mississippi State University-Meridian Campus.
Rohrlack took over leadership of the MDA last year.
The agency played a major role in 2000 in persuading Nissan Motor Co. to build a $930 million auto plant in Madison County. The MDA also played a role early this year in an unsuccessful bid to lure Hyundai to build an auto plant in Mississippi.
Rohrlack said it's important to attract high-paying jobs to the state.
Dorothy Allen, the EMBDC's chamber division manager, said the overflow crowd today at the Kahlmus Auditorium at the MSU-Meridian Campus was one of the largest to attend a Business Before Hours meeting.
