Lamar Raiders split two with Manchester Academy

The Lamar Raiders kept their playoff hopes alive Friday night, by splitting a doubleheader with Manchester Academy.
The Raiders took the first game by 9-5 decision. The Raiders fell in the second contest 11-1.
Drew Moffett got things started for the Raiders with a solo home run in the first inning to take a 1-0 Raider lead.
In the second inning, Manchester got a three-run blast from Daniel Biggers to make the score 3-1, in favor of the visiting Mavericks.
Daniel Henderson reached base on an error in the second inning, and later pulled the Raiders within one run after a RBI single by Moffett.
Lamar regained its lead in the third inning, by scoring two runs on two hits to make the score 4-3. Nick Lisi, Monroe Mayfield, and Daniel Harrison all crossed the plate in the fourth inning to put the Raiders up 7-5.
In the seventh inning, Manchester got a pair of runs on two hits, but Kemp Moseley's solo home run in the bottom of the inning sealed the decision for Lamar. Moffett took the win on the mound for the Raiders.
Lamar was led in hitting by Moffett with a homer and a single, while Zach Moore rolled up a pair of singles, and Mosley tossed in a solo shot.
In the second game of the night, Lamar fell 11-1 in six innings.
Manchester took over the game starting in the second inning, by rolling in eight runs on 10 hits to take a 11-1 decision. Monroe Mayfield suffered the loss for the Raiders.
Mosey had a double, while Monroe and Parker Payne added singles for Lamar. The Raiders, now 9-7, will travel to Heidelberg Monday to tangle with the HA Rebels.
