Just a little advice turned things around for sophomore West Lauderdale golfer Shane Parker on Tuesday afternoon, and probably made the difference as the Knights took a three-stroke win over Clarkdale in the Southeast Lauderdale Invitational Golf Tournament held at Lakeview.
Parker blew his first shot off the tee on No.1 on the way to a double-bogey on that hole and a 39 on the front nine.
Parker wound up putting for birdie on eight of the nine next holes, making three, on the way to a 34 on the back side. His 73 earned him medalist honors for the six-team event.
The win on Tuesday gave West Lauderdale victories in all three of their tournaments this season.
Smith fired a 74 to aid the West Lauderdale cause, while Richard Smith carded a 92.
Consistent play was the key for Clarkdale, as all five of the Bulldogs fired between 79 and 85.
The Bulldogs' total of 323 was more than 70 strokes lower than the number they put up in the County Tournament earlier this month.
