Two teen-agers remained in custody today in Lauderdale County after being arrested and charged in a weekend crime spree of stealing personal property and two vehicles.
Demetrius Robinson, 18, and an unidentified male,16, both from Mobile, each face burglary and grand larceny charges. Robinson is being held on a $20,000 bond; the other teen is expected to appear in Youth Court today.
The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department is searching for Jerboris Scarbrough, 17, on burglary and grand larceny charges.
The crime spree began Friday with the burglary of the Purvis Road home of Orrin Fuelling and his wife. Fuelling said items taken included weapons, jewelry, electronics equipment and cash.
Two of five guns stolen were later recovered.
Two days later, on Sunday, the Fuellings were awakened in the early morning hours to find that the three men suspected of burglarizing him Friday were back. Fuelling said the suspects were trying to take his 1996 Chevrolet Impala.
Fuelling said he saw the car he believed the suspects were using headed west to Zero Road and then back his way. Sheriff's deputies who responded to the scene saw the suspects flee.
The car was revealed to be stolen from Waynesboro.
Shortly after, Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie said, a truck was reported stolen from the area near Fuelling's home. Sollie said that Scarbrough escaped in the truck, which was later found abandoned and inoperable in Washington County, Ala.
Sheriff's deputies captured the unidentified teen on foot in the area near Fuelling's home. They also captured Robinson on Highway 45 South after he was spotted by a Clarkdale volunteer firefighter.
