A Family Affair

National Guard Pvt. Dustin S. Davenport, right, is pictured with his mother, Teresa F. Davenport, at his swearing in ceremony as he joined the Mississippi National Guard's Company G, 185th Aviation Group at Key Field, Meridian. Davenport will begin basic training in April, followed by specialized training as a light-wheeled vehicle mechanic. Upon completion of his training, he will provide maintenance repair support for the unit's 43 wheeled vehicles.
Company G is a combat support aviation unit with 16 H-47D Chinook helicopters capable of lifting 25,000 pounds of internal or external cargo. The unit trains to conduct sustained day and night operations in all environments.
