Trojans' Stevens resigns

Northeast Lauderdale head football coach Andy Stevens announced his resignation on Tuesday afternoon. Stevens has accepted the head coaching position at Aberdeen High School. He will finish out his contract with Northeast Lauderdale, which runs to the end of May.
Stevens spent just one season at Northeast, finishing 3-7. The Trojans won their first three games but then injuries riddled the team causing seven straight losses to close the year.
Before coming to Northeast, Stevens spent two successful seasons at Mendenhall High School.
Stevens says he is excited to be going back to his native Monroe County. He was a quarterback at Amory High School under coach Bobby Hall from 1985-87.
Aberdeen was 2-8 last year and was 1-9 in 2000. "They have no where to go but up. They do play in a tough division with Louisville, Noxubee County and West Point. But, I'm already looking forward to the first game. It's against Amory and that ought to be fun," he said.
