Two eighth graders arrested for bomb threats

Two Meridian eighth graders were arrested Tuesday in connection with bomb threats at city public schools.
Sam Thompson, the school district's safety director, said today that more arrests are possible. Thompson said that police are still investigating the bomb threats.
Detective Deano Harper, spokesman for the Meridian Police Department, said information about the arrests were not available this morning.
Thompson said that a student called the Lauderdale County CrimeStoppers on Tuesday, with information about the suspects.
Based on that information, Thompson said he received a signed confession from one of the suspects who attends Kate Griffin Junior High School. Thompson then called police.
The arrests came two weeks after school district leaders and law enforcement officers asked the public for help in finding anyone who has made bomb threats at city schools.
About 10 bomb threats have occurred this school year at Kate Griffin Junior High and Meridian High School.
