    SHERROD BROOKINS
    GARY, Ind. Services for Sherrod "Brookie" Brookins were held Thursday, Feb. 7, at True Foundation Full Gospel Baptist Church in Gary with the Rev. Frederick M. Jackson Sr. officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Gary. Smith, Bizzell, Warner &Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Brookins, 87, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Lincolnshire Healthcare Center, where he had resided for 10 years. He was a Gary resident for 11 years, born in Meridian, Miss.
    Survivors include daughters, Marie Jackson of Hazelcrest, Ill., Dessie Ree-Jennings, Clarice McDade and her husband, Dewey, Vernicile Brookins, all of Meridian, Carolyn Clark and her husband, Jerry, of Athens, Ga., Darlene Ruffin and her husband, Louis, of Merrillville, Ind.; sons, Sherrod Brookins Jr., Harold Brookins and his wife, Etta, Lugene Brookins and his wife, Aquanetta, all of Detroit, Mich., Paul Shipp and his wife, Kathy, of Chicago; sisters, Johnnie Trotter of Atlanta, Margaret Pickett of Bellwood, Ill., Addie Reatha Logan and her husband, James, of Maywood, Ill., Rosetta Flowers and her husband, Odell, of Joliet, Ill.,; brothers, William Brookins and his wife, Essie, of Gary, Nathaniel Brookins of Meridian, Lamar Brookins, Henry Brookins and his wife, Irma, of Joliet; 40 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and several other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha; parents, Sam and Melvinia; sons, William, Raymond Sr.; and a daughter, Gertrude Williams; brothers, Sherman, John Mittese, Howard and Richard.
    BENJAMIN A. BASKIN
    Retired meat cutter from Kroger Co.
    JACKSON Services for Benjamin A. Baskin will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home South Chapel with the Rev. David Watson officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park South.
    Mr. Baskin, 61, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Central Mississippi Medical Center. He was a native of Meridian.
    Survivors include his wife, Elaine; a son, Benjy Baskin of Meridian; three daughters, Melinda Bledsoe of Clinton, Susan Barfield of Canton and Teresa Sellers of Pass Christian; three brothers, Allen Baskin of Valdosta, Ga., Frank Baskin of Gautier and Dalton Baskin of Houston; two sisters, Joyce Harrison of Meridian and Emma Lou Cook of Ft. Worth, Texas; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several other relatives and friends.
    Visitation will be today 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Retired seamstress for Wells Lamont
    PHILADELPHIA Services for Dorothy Townsend will be held today at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Revs. Martis Jenkins and Walter Woodson officiating. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery.
    Mrs. Townsend, 75, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Leake Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
    Survivors include her husband, Stanton Townsend, a daughter, Kathy Gentry, a son, Paul Townsend, all of Philadelphia; sisters, Laurine Smith and Ava Pickett of Louisville and Betty Myers of Angleton, Texas; a brother, Jerry Williams of Abilene, Texas; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
    The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
    DR. EDGAR WATERS BRYAN III
    EVANSTON, Wyo. Services for Dr. Edgar Waters Bryan III will be held today at 1 p.m. at Aspen Grove Baptist Church in Evanston. Services will also be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Baptist church in Springhill, La. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
    A beloved husband, father and papa, Dr. Bryan died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, in his home.
    He was born Aug. 26, 1943, in New Orleans, La., the son of the Rev. Edgar Waters and Maggie Holstun Bryan Jr.
    From a young age he dedicated his life to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. On July 30, 1966, he married Barbara Martin in Minden, La. Dr. Bryan was currently the director of associational missions for the Southern Baptists in Wyoming. He had pastored six churches in Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi, before being called to a ministry at First Southern Baptist Church in Powell, Wyo. He ministered there for eight and a half years. While in Powell Dr. Bryan also volunteered as a chaplain for the police department. He was an avid hunter and sportsman and a collector of guns.
    Survivors include his wife Barbara, of Kemmerer, Wyo.; son, the Rev. Edgar W. Autumn Bryan IV of Rock Springs, Wyo.; and daughter, Tabitha Osborne and her husband, the Rev. Ronnie Osborne, of Castor, La.; two special granddaughters, Megan and Anna Grace Osborne; his mother, Maggie H. Bryan of Coushatta, La.; and a sister, Julia Bryan Miller and her husband, Richard, of Sulpher, La.
    He was preceded in death by his father.
    Floral tributes may be sent to the Bailey Funeral Home in Spring Hill, La., or donations in Dr. Bryan's memory to the WSBC/Mountain Top Baptist Assembly, P.O. Box 4779, Casper, WY 82604-0779.
    Crandall Funeral Home in Kemmerer, Wyo., and Bailey Funeral Home in Springhill, La., are in charge of arrangements.

    SEBASTOPOL Services for Kendall "Cotton" Goss will be held today at 2 p.m. at Crossroads Church of God with the Revs. Matt Clark and Larry Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Damascus Cemetery in Walnut Grove with Milling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Goss, 62, of Walnut Grove, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, in his home.
    Survivors include his wife, Martha Goss, a daughter, Donna Gilmer, a sister, Gloria Barnes, brothers, Kenneth Goss and Kelly Ray Clark, and three grandchildren, all of Walnut Grove.
