WASHINGTON Federal funding totaling $744,000 has been approved for upgrading the L and F Water Association in Scott County's Ludlow Community, it was announced Friday.
The funding is part of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) water and waste water disposal loan and grant program, and will enable the L and F Water association to expand its service, according to Sen. Trent Lott and Rep. Chip Pickering.
The loan of $208,800 and accompanying grant of $535,200 will be used to construct a 100,000 gallon elevated water storage tank, install 150,000 feet of water main, and 75,000 feet of transmission lines to serve 40 new customers. The improvements will also benefit the system's 586 existing users.
