Excellence in education

The Meridian Community College Foundation has awarded $1,000 scholarships to Lara Marie Boles, Brent Doolittle and Lyndsey Howard.
The scholarships were funded by an endowment from Mabel and S. Carl Meritt of Meridian.
Boles is studying photo journalism at MCC. She is a graduate of Meridian High School.
Doolittle is a sophomore majoring in business and finance. A graduate of West Lauderdale High School, he is a member of the MCC soccer team and Phi Theta Kappa.
Howard is a freshman at MCC studying in the University Transfer Program. She was salutatorian of her graduating class at Clarkdale Attendance Center.
The following students were named to the West Lauderdale Elementary School Honor Roll for the first nine weeks of school:
