Mayor could fill school board post

Meridian Mayor John Robert Smith could ask city councilmen Tuesday to consider his nominee for a city school board position open since March. Smith sent a memo to councilmen Thursday, calling a special meeting for 11 a.m. Tuesday. The mayor declined to discuss possible nominees at a news conference Wednesday.
