Queen City State Fair a good show

The vision of cars lining Highway 19 South and hundreds of people enjoying a good time inside the gates are good omens for the Queen City State Fair, which opened its inaugural run this week. Meridian had been without the food, rides and entertainment offered by such a fair since 1998.
With all the turmoil in the world today, it is encouraging to note that a new family fun tradition is being born right here in Meridian. Even though we must remain aware of the daily terrorism-related news, we also need the kind of escape offered by the Queen City State Fair.
While the Lauderdale County Agri-Center may not be the perfect venue for the fair and parking on the grounds is somewhat limited, it's a good show. We encourage everyone to go out and enjoy the fair's final few days. The fair runs through Sunday.
Plus, it's just plain fun.
