Frankie Wagner Cancer Benefit set for Friday
The Frankie Wagner Cancer Benefit is set for Friday at Briarwood Country Club. The annual golf tournament is open to the public. A banquet begins at 5:30 p.m. and an auction is set for 6:30 p.m.
For information, call Anna Thompson at 679-1323. Donations can be made at any Citizens National Bank.
Boil water notice
Long Creek Water Association says customers in the Causeyville area should boil drinking water until further notice because of a break in the water line. Customers affected include those on Whynot Road, Clarke Road, County Road 430, County Road 514 from Dean Holliman to Leroy Dearman and Vimville Road from Paul Irby Road to Causeyville.
Fashion show at Silverleaf Manor
Local 4-H youth members will present a fashion show at Silverleaf Manor Saturday at 2 p.m. For information, call Kerry Brown at 483-4566 or Beth Randall at 482-9764.
Barbecue benefit set for Saturday
Meridian Harley Owners Group Chapter No. 2508 and Road and Track, is sponsoring a barbecue benefit Saturday at Bill Ethridge Lincoln-Mercury on Frontage Road. Beginning at 11 a.m., plates will be on sale for $5, sandwiches are $3 and whole Boston butts are $15.
All proceeds go the widows and children of New York City firefighters.
MHS Boys basketball holding fund-raiser
The Meridian High School boys basketball booster club will host a car wash fund-raiser. The team will be at Pizza Hut on North Hills Street from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. The team requests a donation of $5 a car.
Weems to sponsor substance abuse workshop
Today's youth and substance abuse will be the topic of a workshop sponsored by Weems Community Mental Health Center. The free workshop will meet from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. on Sept. 27 in the East Mississippi Electric Power Association auditorium.
The workshop is open to parents, teachers, counselors, youth leaders and interested individuals. For information, call 483-4821.
Golf tournament to benefit American Cancer Society
The Meridian Oncology Associates will host a benefit golf tournament at Lakeview Golf Course. The four-man scramble will begin at 8 a.m. on Sept. 29; all proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
Only the first 36 teams will be accepted. For information, call Dennis Harper at 693-6500 or Tanya Ochello or Vicki Kidd at 482-1555.
