OBITUARIES FOR WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 19, 2001

EDRYE GRAY VAUGHN
Retired from Methodist Children's Home, Jackson
Services for Edrye Gray Vaughn will be held today at 11:30 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Meadows officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Vaughn, 87, of Rochester, N.Y., died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at Rochester General Hospital. A native of Lauderdale County, Mrs. Vaughn was a longtime resident of Meridian, but lived for a number of years in Mobile, Ala. and Jackson. Following her retirement as a housemother for the Methodist Children's Home in Jackson, she lived in Meridian at College Park Apartments and Aldersgate Retirement Community before moving to Rochester last year to live with her son and daughter-in-law. She was a longtime member of Fifth Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Leonard Vaughn and his wife, Bonnie, of Rochester; two sisters, Luna Newell and her husband, William E., of Meridian and Nora Patrick of Flora; two grandchildren, Robin Ray of Huntsville, Ala. and Brian Vaughn of Houston, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude B. Vaughn; older sisters, Betty Maeott Eaker and Annie Trest; and older brothers, Samuel Marcelle Gray and William Lavelle Gray.

PHILADELPHIA Services for Ruby Grace Vance will be held today at 10 a.m. at Old Mars Hill Church. Burial will be in Mars Hill Cemetery in Winston County with McClain-Hays Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Vance, 72, of Philadelphia, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, at Neshoba County General Hospital.
Survivors include a daughter, Willie Ruth Stevens of Carthage; three sons, Johnny Vance of Carthage, Eddie Vance and Leroy Vance, both of Philadelphia; a brother, Truman Collins of Philadelphia; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
MARY VIRGINIA GAMBLE KENNEDY
QUITMAN Services for Mary Virginia Gamble Kennedy will be held today at 11 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ron McGee, Franklin Denham and Mike Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in West Clarke County.
Mrs. Kennedy, 83, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in her home. She was the director of kindergarten at Oak Park Presbyterian Church in New Orleans. She was also the chairwoman of the committee for preschool children at Gentilly Baptist Church in New Orleans. She worked as a clerk in the regional division of the Hartford in New Orleans and served as the office secretary of the late E.O. Sellers, musician and hymn composer.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Dr. J. Hardee Kennedy and a daughter, Jeannie K. Thames, both of Meridian; a brother, Charles S. Lively of Galveston, Texas; a sister, Helen Lively Stone of Bowling Green, Ky.; and a grandson, Christopher E. Thames of Seattle.
The family requests memorials be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Marshall West.

Graveside services for Addie Lee Stephenson Wright will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Hester Cemetery with the Revs. J.C. Burkes, Douglas Stone and Bob Wilkerson officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wright, 99, of Meridian, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at Queen City Nursing Center. She was a charter member of Trinity Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Roma Partin of Meridian and Nell Ann Pickett Partin of Utica; a grandson, Dr. Bruce Partin of Roanoke, Va.; stepdaughter, Mary W. Roberts of Jackson; two stepsons, T.H. Wright of Slidell, La. and James D. Wright of Odenville, Ala.; a special friend, Kay Bynum of Meridian; a step-granddaughter, Bebe Freeman; 10 other grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Harry J. Partin; a stepdaughter, Paulene Paulsen; and a brother, David L. Stephenson.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
