Lake pounds Pisgah, 13-1

The Lake Hornets continued their positive surge with a 13-1 beating of the Pisgah Dragons at home Wednesday.
The Hornets ran their record to 13-4 with a 12-run explosion in the first frame to settle the issue in the early going.
The Dragons lone run came in the fifth, after the defending Class 1A state champions had done all their damage. Eric Gunn improved to 2-1, by allowing only three Dragon hits.
LHS plated its runs on just six hits, including a big two-run homer by Jason Massey. Bryan Williamson and Eric Gunn both went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs.
Justin Moudy absorbed the loss for Pisgah.
Lake moves on for a Division 6-1A contest Friday at Puckett. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
Late Baseball
Heidelberg Academy 16, Prentiss Christian 5: The Rebels pounded out 12 hits and took advantage of five errors by PCS for a non-district win Monday.
Derek McKee roped a pair of doubles and a single and Matt Culberson had three singles to lead Heidelberg Academy, which is now 4-5 on the season.
Ryan Aultman added a two-run home run, while Brent Welch and Scott McInnis both had doubles for the Rebels.
Chad Williamson (1-2) went three innings and struck out four to get the win for Heidelberg Academy.
Prentiss Christian, which fell to 1-6, got two hits apiece from Caleb Williamson and Brad Myers.
Heidelberg Academy 12, Wayne 4: The Rebels exploded for 16 hits in the win over district foe Wayne Tuesday night.
Every starter had at least one hit for the Rebels in gaining their fifth win and second district win.
Brooks Lewis and Brent Welch each had three hits while Derek McKee and Scott McInnis chipped in with two hits.
Matt Culberson, Heath Ainsworth, Ryan Aultman, Blake Bass and Matt Andrews each had a hit for the Rebels.
Lewis (1-1) was credited with the win, hurling six innings. He fanned 13 and walked three, while allowing four runs on six hits. The Rebels had four extra base hits. Lewis tripled, while McKee, McInnis and Bass all doubled.
