Riley Hospital seeks trauma designation

An upcoming renovation and expansion of Riley Hospital's emergency room could enable the hospital to become a part of Mississippi's trauma system.
Once renovation is complete, the Department of Health will inspect the facility and determine which level of treatment may be offered at Riley, he said.
Demolition of the existing emergency room is set to begin in July; the new emergency room is expected to be complete by January 2002.
