Local man charged with raping young girl

A Russellville man is currently in jail after being accused of raping a 10-year-old girl, according to officials.

Ramiro Luz Ajualip, 27, 310 Plum St., Russellville, is charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy and is currently held in Franklin County Jail, officials said.

Both are Class A felonies and punishable by 10 years to life in prison with the possibility of parole if convicted, according to officials.

Reports indicate Ajualip is accused of raping the child on Feb. 27, while he was living in the house with the child and her family members.

According to reports, the girl told relatives one week ago about the incident and they contacted police. After an investigation into the allegations, he was taken into custody and arrested on March 5. Ajualip was transferred to Franklin County jail on March 6. He is currently being held on $150,000 bond.

The Franklin County Department of Human Resources assisted the Russellville Police Dept. in the investigation.
