Two accused of forging prescriptions at local pharmacy
Two Russellville residents were arrested this week after attempting to pass forged prescriptions at a local pharmacy.
David Lee Gargus, 27, Town and Country Trailer Park, Russellville, was charged with two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a forged instrument and two counts of attempt to commit a controlled substance crime.
Tiffany Leigh Ann Fisher, 20, 516 Lauderdale St., Russellville, was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a forged instrument and attempt to commit a controlled substance crime.
According to Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett, the police department was contacted by a local dental office who was notified by a pharmacy in the community that several questionable prescriptions had come through their business over a few-day period.
Hargett said investigators determined three prescriptions for Percocet that appeared to be issued by the local dentist had been filled at the pharmacy.
Investigators discovered the prescriptions had actually been stolen and forged, Hargett said.
Police investigator Lt. Scotty Lowery said the dentist stated he didn’t ever write prescriptions for Percocet, so the employees at the pharmacy became suspicious.
Lowery said when the pharmacy employees contacted the local dentist to ask about the prescriptions, he confirmed he never issued them and notified authorities.
“We were able to obtain video of the suspects passing the prescriptions and having the medicine filled,” Lowery said. “They were picked up for questioning Tuesday and both admitted their involvement.”
Gargis was already out of custody on a previous felony bond, so he is being held without bond at this time.
Fisher was released from custody on a $2,000 bond.
