Russellville man arrested on rape charges

Officers with the Russellville Police Department had to get involved in a pre-weekend party after one party guest told authorities she had been raped.

According to Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett, Markeise Dewayne Hollingsworth, 21, of Adams Street in Russellville, was arrested and charged with first-degree rape after being accused of forcing himself on a female guest.

According to Hargett, the victim stated she was attending a party on Thursday night at a local residence.

She stated she and her boyfriend went to sleep during the party, and when she woke up, she said Hollingsworth was on top of her having intercourse.

Hargett said the victim went to the hospital, which is when authorities were notified.

Hollingsworth remains in custody at the Franklin County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
