County votes Morrow, Kiel

Franklin County had 8,949 ballots cast in the Nov. 6 general election. The total voter turnout was at 48 percent. As far as straight party voting, 30 percent voted Democratic and 69 percent voted Republican.

Johnny Mack Morrow (D) received the majority of votes against Larry Stutts (R) for State Senator District 6. Morrow had 54 percent of the votes, and Stutts had 45 percent of the votes.

Jamie Kiel (R) received the majority of votes against Eddie Britton (D) for State Representative District 18. Kiel had 70 percent of the votes, and Britton had 29 percent of the votes.

“My message has been that we want the state government to follow the same principles as we do at home and in business. I want to thank House District 18 for trusting me and sending me to Montgomery to represent them,” Kiel said.

Charles Adcox (R) received the majority of votes against Elzie Malone (D) for Franklin County coroner. Adcox had 52 percent of the votes, and Malone had 47 percent of the votes.

Kacey Hester Johnston (I) received the majority of the votes against Ralph Winchester (D) for Franklin County Board of Education member District 5. Johnston had 63 percent, and Winchester had 36 percent, of the votes.

All four of the statewide amendments and the one local amendment passed. Amendment One passed with 86 percent of the votes. Amendment Two passed with 74 percent of the votes. Amendment Three passed with 66 percent of the votes. Amendment Four passed with 75 percent of the votes.

The local amendment passed with 70 percent of the votes.
