AlmostBama show raises money for Place of Grace Sept. 23

AlmostBama will be making its debut at the Historic Roxy Theatre Sept. 23 at 7 p.m.

This show is a tribute to the multi-platinum, award-winning country music band Alabama. The group is a six-piece band comprised of seasoned Nashville musicians and up-and-coming young stars. Drummer Butch Bellah formed the band in late 2022.

They will perform some of Alabama’s popular hits including “Mountain Music,” “Tennessee River,” “Dixieland Delight” and “There’s No Way,” as well as sharing stories and facts about the group that inspired their band.

This event is brought to Russellville by April Potter Entertainment as a benefit for the Place of Grace.

Potter is the daughter of Terrell Potter.

The Place of Grace is a nonprofit 9-12-month live-in program where women learn Bible principles and life skills as part of an initiative to recover from addiction. According to Jocelynn James Edmonds, the group’s director, their mission is “to impact lives with the love of Christ and to instill life skills that will help women recover from addiction and become productive citizens in society.”

Edmonds fell into addiction after being prescribed pain medication, eventually becoming wanted for related crimes. She turned herself in to local law enforcement.

After being incarcerated and in rehab for a year, she dedicated her life to God, going home feeling a strong calling to help others like her. Since 2013, she has had been able to help 803 women and 146 men get into facilities and recover their lives.
