ABA welcomes new chairman

The Alabama Bankers Association welcomed the new chairman of its board of directors, Mike Ross, during its annual convention in June. Ross is the president and CEO of CB&S Bank in Russellville.

“Mike’s passion for banking is apparent, as is his love for the state of Alabama,” said ABA president and CEO Scott Latham.

“With significant experience in both regional and community banking, Mike is already hard at work enacting plans for the year to liaison with bankers, stakeholders and policymakers on issues important to our industry,” Latham added.

Ross has served as president and CEO at CB&S Bank since 2017. Prior to his tenure at CB&S Bank, he served in executive management at Renasant Bank and Regions Bank.
“I am very humbled and honored to have been asked to serve the ABA in this capacity,” Ross explained.

“I want to thank my fellow board members as well as all ABA member banks for their confidence, and I very much look forward to working with Scott Latham and his talented team at the ABA,” he added.
Ross brings more than 37 years of banking, leadership and community service experience to his role as chairman of the association.

He also currently serves as chairman of both the University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Business Board of Visitors as well as the Alabama Business Hall of Fame Board of Directors.

He is also a member of the President’s Cabinet at the University of Alabama. He previously served as an advisory board member of the Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB as well as the Innovation Depot in Birmingham.

Ross earned his bachelor’s degree in 1986 and his MBA in 1989 from the Culverhouse College of Business at the University of Alabama. He has been married to Hilary Howard Ross for almost 34 years.

Other officers elected during the convention include the chairman-elect, Macke Mauldin, president of Bank Independent in Sheffield; vice chairman, Dwight Gamble, president and CEO of HNB First in Headland; treasurer, Charlie Williams, president and CEO of Citizens Bank & Trust in Guntersville; and Past Chairman Hope Johnson, president and CEO of Friend Bank in Dothan.
