Antique store opens in Russellville

Five and Dime Antiques and Collectibles is a two-fold business, providing a trip through the past while also giving downtown Russellville a step toward economic progress.

Owner Mark “Yogi” Welborn held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the business Aug. 10. Many community members attended, including the previous owner of the building, Ellis Davis and his wife Willodean.

“This is kind of a continuation of Ellis’ 30-something-year-old dream,” Welborn said.

Davis addressed the crowd and, with teary eyes, expressed his hope for the future of Russellville and his gratitude for businesses like the antique store opening downtown and encouraging people to shop locally.

“I’m so proud of this boy. He’ll carry it on. The people next door will carry it on. This town is coming back,” Ellis said.

Five and Dime Antiques and Collectibles is located across from the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce in downtown Russellville.
