Vina man accused of rape

VINA – A Vina man was arrested early Sunday morning after law enforcement officers received a report that he allegedly raped and sexually abused two 15-year-old girls over the weekend.
Jerry Lee Davis, 56, 8911 Alabama 19, Vina, was arrested on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver, the two 15-year-old girls were from out of state and had come to the area to visit a relative of Davis’.
Oliver said while the girls were riding four wheelers at his house on Friday, Davis bought alcohol that he reportedly gave to the girls Friday night.
Oliver said Davis and the girls apparently had too much alcohol to drink and they alleged that Davis touched one girl inappropriately and tried to force her to touch him as well.
“The girls were from out of town so they were spending the night at Davis’ residence,” Oliver said. “They were still there the next day and apparently started drinking again the next night, which is when the second incident occurred.”
Oliver said on Saturday night, the second girl had too much to drink and had gotten sick.
He said when she was in the bathroom, Davis allegedly came into the bathroom, picked her up and carried her to a bedroom where the victim reported that he took off her clothes and forced her to have sex.
“The victim stated she tried to push him off of her, but he wouldn’t move,” Oliver said.
After the incident, investigators said the two girls were able to get out of the house and made it to a phone where one girl called her parents to tell them about the abuse.
“We received a call from the parents early Sunday morning after they received a call from their daughter describing what happened,” Oliver said. “The deputy found the two girls on the side of the road. They found Davis at his residence where he was arrested.”
Oliver said during questioning, Davis admitted to the crimes.
Davis has been released from custody on a $75,000 bond.
