Man, woman charged in alleged sex plan
A Phil Campbell woman who allegedly sent nude pictures of a minor to an 18-year-old boy was indicted recently along with the boy who received the pictures.
Rebecca Diane Pounders, 40, 668 Kent St., Phil Campbell, was indicted by the May grand jury for dissemination or display of obscene matter, traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sexual act and aiding/abetting a person committing the offense of second-degree attempted rape.
Justin Ray Sorensen, 18, 3rd Street NE, Grayville, was indicted for second-degree attempted rape, traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sexual act and possession of obscene matter.
According to reports, Pounders is accused of sending at least two nude photos of a 15-year-old girl to Sorensen back in October of 2011.
Investigators said Pounders met Sorensen on the Internet and said she is accused of sending the photos to him in the hopes of getting Sorensen to have sex with the girl.
Officials said Sorensen reportedly came to Phil Campbell after receiving the pictures and stayed with Pounders for about three weeks while he was allegedly trying to have sex with the minor, but officials said she refused.
Investigators said while questioning Sorensen prior to his arrest in October 2011, investigators viewed his computer and found multiple photos of child pornography, including one of a 7-year-old child, but they said none appear to be of local children.
Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing said
Pounders and Sorensen will both be scheduled for an arraignment hearing on June 28.
He said their cases would also be placed on the August criminal trial docket.
