Man charged with shooting car

A Phil Campbell man is facing charges after losing his temper following an altercation with another man Thursday night.

Teddy Allan McAlister, 45, 8407 Alabama 243, Phil Campbell was arrested and charged with shooting into an unoccupied vehicle and a Community Corrections violation, Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said.

According to Oliver, officers received a call Thursday night that someone had shot at a vehicle on Newell Road.

When sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene, they took statements from witnesses and recovered evidence.

McAlister, identified as the man who shot the vehicle with an SKS assault rifle, confessed to his involvement in the crime during questioning on Friday morning.

Reports indicate McAlister and the owner of the car had been in an argument prior to the shooting.

Investigators said other charges for McAlister could be pending.

“This is one of those situations where someone let their temper get the best of them and now they have charges against them,” Oliver said.

“The best thing to do if you have a problem with someone is to call the authorities before you do something you’ll regret.”

At press time, McAlister was still in custody at the Franklin County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
