Foy G. Mitchell, 87, of Red Bay, Ala. passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Ala.  He was a native of Alabama, a mail carrier for 30 years and a school teacher.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion.  He was a member of Vina Church of Christ and served on the Franklin County Water Board.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Ala. with Steve Gober officiating.  Burial was in Single Springs Cemetery, Vina, Ala.

He is survived by three children, Danny Mitchell and wife, Lena, of Red Bay, Ala., Ruth Cox and husband, Dennis, of Hamilton, Ala. and Sandra Osborn, West Point, Miss.; 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Mitchell,  a son, Jim Mitchell, a daughter, Barbara Mitchell, a grandson, Johnny Mitchell and his parents, James Walter and Sarah Francis Nichols Mitchell.

Pallbearers were Clay Pierce, Patrick Mitchell, Danny Mitchell, Hewert Scott, Jeramie Scott and Timothy Scott. Honorary pallbearer was Angie Scott Willard.
